Barbados, now a Republic, is coming alive again! Visitors are returning in droves and just loving this special island. Let’s hope, as esteemed Realtor Sir Paul Altman thinks, we have reached ‘the tipping point’.

“What we see now is a younger profile of person choosing to live, work and play in Barbados. This translates into people going beyond the holiday approach and taking a direct interest in investing in all areas of opportunity on the island. The gains and spin-offs from this new wave are growing exponentially. In my opinion, it may be the most exciting recorded change within our economic and social structure ever to take place.

The Barbados lifestyle is no longer a holiday lifestyle; it is one which now incorporates investment, business and a permanent commitment to being a part of what Barbados best represents in a global environment.

We have reached the tipping point.”

Thank you Sir Paul for these optimistic words.

On a sad note, we lost a legend in Barbados Construction and the wider Caribbean region. Sir Charles Williams passed peacefully at 88 having made his mark in business as founder of the COW group of companies.  When we first came back to this island in the 1990’s he showed us around his land at Apes Hill where he had such a vision of what he was going to achieve there. It was inspiring. Sir Charles was also an avid sportsman spanning many sports including fishing, horse racing and of course, his beloved polo. Our sympathy goes out to his family.

Also, the supremely talented lady, Jill Walker, passed away at 94. She’s best known as an artist who many years ago, with her husband Jimmy, came from the UK to make Barbados their home. She opened the Best of Barbados Gift shops featuring her artwork and high quality souveniers and the rest is history. Our thoughts and sympathy are with her family.

In this edition we have our popular gift guide. Whether it’s something for the home or a personal gift, our retailers can help you out! We also have outstanding property for sale and rent. Remember you can view BPN on www.barbadospropertynews.com

Wishing each and every one of you a peaceful and healthy holiday season.
